49ers key offseason pickup would be the difference in Super Bowl rematch

The San Francisco 49ers could be one crucial acquisition away from winning a Super Bowl. There are not a ton of roster improvements to be made in San Francisco. The 49ers were one half away from winning a championship five months ago. However, one position where San Francisco could use some more depth is cornerback.Porno 1xbet Charvarius Ward, Deommodore Lenoir, and Ambry Thomas are bona fide NFL starters, but the 49ers are likely interested in upgrading their backup corners. Rock Ya-Sin and Issac Yiadom are serviceable reserves at corner, but when you’re trying to win a Super Bowl, serviceable doesn’t always cut it. If Ward, Lenoir, or Thomas were to go down amid a playoff run, San Francisco would feel exposed at corner against a player like Patrick Mahomes. The 49ers need to fortify their cornerback depth if they want to feel completely bulletproof as Super Bowl contenders, especially knowing that the Kansas City Chiefs will be hungry for a three-peat. Who should San Francisco turn to for more depth at corner? Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey has a few ideas, as communicated in a report released Wednesday. «San Francisco could look into signing a veteran corner, of which there are some available,» Tansey said. «Xavien Howard, Stephon Gilmore and J.C. Jackson are among the top corners still on the free-agent market. All of them could be intrigued by joining a Super Bowl contender, but the fit has to be perfect on both ends. The 49ers may be comfortable with adding a depth piece instead of a star so that Ward, Lenoir and Thomas can have a bulk of the snaps.» One player that Tansey failed to mention is free agent Patrick Peterson, who could be a better fit than any of the above players. Peterson is an eight-time Pro Bowler and would provide the kind of experienced voice that can push a team like San Francisco past the final frontier.  What’s more, Peterson is still a durable and reliable NFL cornerback, even at 33 years of age. He started in 16 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season and had 42 tackles and two interceptions.  There’s no doubt that Peterson, a member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, would be thrilled to join the 49ers and have a shot at capturing one of the few honors that has thus far eluded him in his decorated career: a Super Bowl championship. San Francisco should move quickly if they want to add Peterson, as he’s attracting other suitors.
